As a reward, The Eclipse Guard was given a Corona-class Frigate and a squadron of I-7 Howlrunner starfighters. Carth Wulain earned the name "Golden Praetor" which he wore with pride.ĭuring one assignment, Wulain protected Kuat Drive Yards from a raid by the Bloody Claw Syndicate. After the Sith defeat at the Battle of Bengali, the Eclipse Guard abandoned the Sith cause, and became mercenaries in the underworld. Because of this, the Echani grew to hate the Eclipse Guard and sought its destruction. The Guard helped the Sith in their brief conflict with the Echani Command. Isolationist Thyrsus was unable to punish Wulain due to the very laws he broke. At this point, Wulain challenged Thyrsus to stop him, and dubbed his cohort "The Eclipse Guard". Wulain elected to help the Sith conquer Obroa-Skai, in strict opposition to the laws of Thyrsus. This coincided with the Sith incursion into the Inner Rim. Wulain was promoted to Twisuns Praetor in 24 ABY, at last giving him the rank and power to enact real change. At the time only a Stellar Tribune within the Sun Guard, Wulain bided his time for the the perfect opportunity to express his disdain for this new philosophy.
When Thyrsus outlawed mercenary action by members of the Sun Guard, Carth Wulain was distraught and viewed this as a betrayal of the Sun Guard's founding ways and principles.
